1805 - A New Chinese Restaurant opens

1805, a new modern Chinese restaurant, officially opened its doors on Beacon Road in Bournemouth, following a VIP launch event on 22nd July.

Official opening of 1805

The Mayor and Mayoress of Bournemouth Cllr Derek Borthwick and Mrs Dorothy Borthwick, formally cut the ribbon and announced the restaurant open, alongside Chairman of AFC Bournemouth Jeff Mostyn and Rose Mostyn and company director Linlin Xing.

The celebration featured a spectacular lion dance to bring good luck and fortune, and guests were treated to bespoke cocktails and an exquisite three-course meal.

Andy Liu, general manager of 1805, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming customers to all that 1805 has to offer and providing them with a first-class service. The food is creative, authentic and incredibly appetising.

“We are ideally located to host all kinds of events whether it be a romantic evening, a gathering for the whole family, drinks with friends, or a more formal meeting. Guests will have an unforgettable experience.”

Inspired by Chinese history, the name of the restaurant marks the year that the first Chinese man became an established British citizen, a significant moment in history and a move so rare it required an Act of Parliament.

Blending traditional and contemporary Chinese culture, the restaurant offers a range of fresh and vibrant dishes in an elegant setting including an inspired dim sum menu created by Head Dim Sum Chef, Xing Yu, who has over 30 years culinary experience.

The independent venue seats up to 120 guests with a spacious outside terrace, main restaurant area, private dining room and cocktail lounge, while the interior incorporates natural elements such as reclaimed wood and stylish hand-crafted furniture. The venue also pays homage to its roots with historical artefacts displayed throughout, including a traditional carriage in the reception area.
